Bagasse Fiber – The Future Biocomposite Material : A Review
نویسنده
چکیده
A biocomposite is a material formed by a matrix and a reinforcement of natural fibers like Jute, Coir, Sisal, Pineapple, Ramie, Bamboo, Banana and Bagasse, etc. Such natural fibers composites are low-cost fibers with high specific properties, low density and eco-friendly. The development of advanced biocomposite materials made is increasing worldwide. It will be an alternative way to develop the biocomposites which can be particularly used for daily needs of common people whether it is house hold furniture, house, fencing, decking, flooring, and light weight car components or sports equipments. This effort to develop biocomposite materials with improved performance for global applications is an ongoing process. Thousands of tons bagasse is produced but most of their wastes do not have any useful utilization. These bagasse wastes can be used to prepare fiber reinforced polymer composites for commercial use. This review paper discuss about recent development of bagasse fibers reinforced polymer composites, types of matrix, processing methods, and any modification of the fiber and its applications.

Fabrication and Characterization of Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Nano-Hydroxyapatite/Polyamide46 Biocomposite for Bone Substitute
BACKGROUND Ideal bone repair material should be of good biocompatibility and high bioactivity. Besides, their mechanical properties should be equivalent to those of natural bone. The objective of this study was to fabricate a novel biocomposite suitable for load-bearing bone defect repair. MATERIAL AND METHODS A novel biocomposite composed of carbon fiber, hydroxyapatite and polyamide46 (CF/HA/...

Agave bagasse was successfully separated into fractions that were used in sheep feeding trials. Agave bagasse can be substituted for corn stubble in the sheep's diet which resulted in improved weight gain. Agave bagasse was also processed into long and short fiber fractions with a hammermill and fiberboards of medium and high specific gravities being produced. Medium specific gravity agave fibe...
متن کاملComparison of the performance of plant nano-hydrogels as bio-filters for nitrite uptake from effluent of fish farms
The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of plant nano-gels as a new adsorbent and to remove nitrite at low cost. At first, plant nano-gels (nano bagasse, chitosan-functionalized nano-fiber and lignocellulose nano-fiber) were prepared by mechanical and top-down mechanism. Batch system medium was designed to measure the adsorbent optimum. Then isotherm and synthetic were calculated ...
متن کاملOverview of Flax Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic Composites
Flax fibres are oftenly used for reinforcing thermoplastic to manufacture biocomposite materials exhibiting numerous advantages such as high mechanical properties, low density and biodegradability. The mechanical properties of a biocomposite material depends on the nature and orientation of the fibres, the nature of the matrix and mainly on the adhesion between fiber and the polymer matrix. The...
